Stress bug at the IIT's

The Indian Express takes a look at the mounting suicide attempts in the IIT campuses. Stopping short of suggesting an EQ test alongwith the JEE (Objective) test , the article veers close to a need for spiritual & emotional balance.

  • Stress is everywhere.. in fact indians are better equipped to handle stress than many others. Right from school to college to workplace competition is extremely high among Indians in India.

Suicide is unfortunate. Scores are primary consideration everywhere from Harward to NUS. In addition to academics, IITs should nurture all round development of students. If getting into IIT and getting thru IIT is extremely difficult, life after IIT is no smooth sailer. If students cannot handle the "study stress" how can they handle work stress?

Parents play an important role in guiding their children. Life is not just grades, or IIT qualification. Social revolution looks immenent in India.
